About the Company

Bark Colth is a German-Ugandan family business, founded in 1999, pioneering the development and systematic production of tree bark fabric, called Barktex®.

Material

The permanently renewable bark of the East African fig tree, called "Mutuba“, is harvested every year without felling the tree. It is the basis for a wide range of textiles and composites distributed under the brand name BARKTEX®.

Technology

Barktex® is made from the traditionally manufactured bark cloth through a variety of textile, wood, leather, and polymer technologies.
