About the Company
Coopflora is a cooperative founded by a 32-member team in 2004 and located in Rondônia (Amazon forest). They sell, among other products, a handmade 'Fabric of the Forest' made of rubber latex. The manufacturing and sales of this material help improve the welfare of the communities and contribute to the preservation of the Amazon by encouraging sustainable use of resources without deforestation.
Material
Fabric from the Forest' is made of cotton and rubber latex. The material does not contain toxic chemicals and is 100% renewable. As a natural material, 'fabric from the forest' can have different degrees of color or finishing.
Technology
The rubber tree tappers are trained to extract the latex, and extraction is done on a schedule in order to protect the trees. The first stage of production is bathing cotton fabrics with latex already mixed with a stabilizer. The fabric can be smoked and vulcanized in special greenhouses, depending on the final product required, or dried in the sun.
