About the Company

Natural Fiber Welding (NFW) is a material innovation company giving industries all-natural material platforms to create responsibly. NFW invents and manufactures products from plants. Beginning with inherently circular, natural ingredients, NFW intends to redefine the material ecosystem, making a plastic-free future possible.

Material

MIRUM® is a new, plant-based complement to leather, allowing tunability in texture, color, pattern, scent, and finish. At the end of its life, MIRUM® can be recycled into new MIRUM® or ground up and returned to the earth.

Technology

MIRUM® is made by mixing and curing 100% natural plants, minerals, and upcycled agricultural side streams. MIRUM® contains no petrochemicals or plastics. Manufactured with wind power in Peoria, IL, initial assessments estimate MIRUM® produces less greenhouse gas emissions than synthetic leather-like materials and conventional chrome-tanned leather.

Applications

Fashion, footwear, accessories, home goods, and automotive interiors.
