About the Company

Founded in 2015 by Dr. Luke Haverhals, Natural Fiber Welding (NFW®) uses closed-loop chemical processes and machine automation to make fiber-welded composites. Haverhals, the company’s CEO, has long been concerned about the plastics problem in the materials industry. The unsustainability of petroleum use and the hazards of microplastic residue motivated him and his company to make “plants, not plastic” their rallying cry.

Material

Mirum® is a leather-like material made with zero animal products, petrochemicals, acrylic coatings, PU binders, or synthetic ingredients.

Technology

NFW®’s patented process allows for a range of independently definable characteristics such as thickness, flexibility, texture, color, pattern, and finish. MIRUM efficiently uses 100% biobased raw materials that will completely return to the earth after they've been processed to form MIRUM and after the products made from MIRUM have reached post-consumer end of life.
