About the Company

Saltyco® is a materials science company that develops plant-based fiber fill as an alternative for down. Their manufactured facility called Halolab® is located in Scotland, where the raw materials are warehoused and mechanically processed.

Material

BioPuff® is a lightweight cellulose fiber fill that can be used as next-gen down. BioPuff® fibers have cluster structure that traps heat within small air pockets to retain warmth. BioPuff® has been tested and benchmarked against well-known petroleum-based, plant-based, and animal-based fiber fill materials. The material thermal insulation is comparable to 600 fill power goose-down can save up to 30 geese and reduce petroleum by 70% per jacket, in addition to saving up to 25 litres of fresh drinking water.

Technology

BioPuff is made from plants grown in wetland environments. Its pure cellulosic structure with SaltyCo's green-chemistry enhancements optimises it for performance. The lack of man-made chemicals makes BioPuff easy to compost and biodegrade at end-of-life.
