About the Company

Vegeto is a Canadian supplier in the sustainable production and processing of plant textile fibers.

Material

Milkweed is non-woven thermal insulation made from a blend of milkweed and kapok fibers, and a biopolymer made from cornstarch.

Technology

To discover the silky fiber inside the pod, the membrane of the envelope is dried and opened in order to allow the extraction of the material. Then, the seeds and fibers are gently separated to protect the structural integrity of the long fibers. This operation is performed using a process created by Vegeto. The third step involves blending and assembling the plant-based components, such as milkweed and kapok plant fibers, with the biopolymer (PLA). Lastly, the components are assembled in a ready-to-use non-woven raw material.

Applications

Fashion, Accessories, Outwear, and Home Goods.
