About the Company

Bolt Threads was founded in 2009 by 3 individuals in the bioengineering, biophysics, and biochemistry field with the idea of developing better materials for a better world. In 2012, Bolt Threads launched spider silk fibers to market, and expanded to a 32,000 sq ft facility in 2015. By 2018 Bolt Threads launched its innovative Mylo™ material and has continued to innovate in this space. In 2020, Bolt Threads created a consortium with Adidas, Kering, Lululemon, and Stella McCartney for exclusive access to Mylo™. Mylo™ is drawing attention from luxury and consumer brands because of its remarkable resemblance to soft, supple leather, and the fact that it can be made in any color, finish, or emboss.

Material

Mylo is generated from mycelium

Technology

Mylo is grown in a temperature and humidity controlled environment using only vegan inputs. Mylo grows in weeks, compared to years for bovine counterparts.
