About the Company
Tenbro Bamboo Company is the first company to manufacture bamboo fiber in China. Tenbro sells bamboo fiber, yarn, and fabric as well as finished products, in particular linens and undergarments. Currently, the Tenbro material is most similar to cotton with some applications similar to wool. The company mentions silk in their marketing materials but none of the fabrics represented seem to be a real silk replacement. We have included the company in our alternative wool/yarn landscape because of their commitment to alternative materials and potential for future innovations.
Material
To ensure quality standards, Tenbro uses bamboo from its own bamboo plantation in the Sichuan Province. No pesticides or harsh chemicals are used to grow the bamboo.
Technology
Tenbro holds the patent for the bamboo fiber creation process. Tenbro states that their fibers are 100% bamboo. The company uses plant-based dyes according to customer preference.
Applications
In addition to bamboo fibers, yarns, and fabrics, Tenbro sells a variety of finished products, including bedding, towels, baby clothing, and undergarments for men and women. Most of these finished products are made with bamboo/cotton blends. According to their website, companies across the globe use their bamboo fibers, yarns, and fabrics.
