Heather Courtney is the Founder and CEO of Alwyn Capital, an early-stage investment firm that focuses on replacing the use of animals in the food, fashion and medical industries. Heather has been vegan for 25 years. In that time, she has witnessed the exponential growth of the plant-based food sector and knows the space intimately. She holds a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Florida and a degree in Photography from Parson School of Design. Prior to founding Alwyn Capital, she worked as a commercial photographer for over a decade, helping fashion and lifestyle brands define themselves through visual imagery.
Heather is a Deal Lead for the GlassWall Syndicate (a group of over 200 mission-driven investors) and the Co-Chair for GlassWall’s Alternatives to Animal Testing Committee. She serves on the Advisory Council of the Center for Contemporary Sciences and on the Board of Rise for Animals. She lives in Brooklyn with her partner and a rotating cast of rescue animals.
